#830 Having to restart your computer after downloading an update

Thanks for the update but interrupting what I was doing to force a restart is not cool. Sure, I could "restart later," but then I don't get my updates, so that's only a bittersweet victory over the update-restart combination.

It's just slightly annoying.

#845 When cashiers ask you for your email address

I'd rather not be emailed three times a day with "unbeatable" tri-daily deals. My mailbox is cluttered enough from other spam mail. I know you might be fired for not asking me for my email address, Ms. Cashier Lady, so I'll cut you some slack, but honestly, take the hint from the rolling of my eyes or blatant dirty look I give you when you ask for my email address.

It's just slightly annoying.

#849 Typing a capital i followed by a lower case L

It doesn't come up that often, but when it does, it's a bit hard to distinguish between letters. It comes up most in texts when people forget to use apostrophes or phones don't automatically insert them.

"Ill be right back." See the problem?

It's just slightly annoying.

#854 Youtube commercials

It seemed like only a matter of time before Youtube was monetized in this fashion, but come on, let's not ruin a good thing.

#864 People who change their Facebook name to their first and middle name

If you don't want your own friends to be able to find you, you nailed it. If you want people to be slightly annoyed with you, you nailed it. Nobody really calls you by your first and middle name, why change it on Facebook?

It's just slightly annoying.

#866 When your paper doesn't reach the minimum requirement after double spacing it

Double spacing is awesome. It's the greatest confidence booster than can possibly come out of writing for hours on end. The anticipation builds as you finish your paper, knowing the magic you're about to pull of. One click and boom, you've reached the minimum requirement and more.

So what happens when the magic doesn't work?

Click. Wait a second, what's going on here? Not cool. You can't possibly be expected to write more than you already wrote! You counted your single spaced pages, doubling that should have been enough! Well, the pages don't lie, but come on, you know what to do. Fix up those margins. Make those periods a font size bigger. Widen the spacing between those letters. If none of that does the trick, it's time to get those fingers busy typing. When double spacing magic fails us....

It's just slightly annoying.

#896 Character limits

160 characters really isn't that much for
a text message.
Can there really be any significant difference in technology to allow a large character limit on a phone or computer? Why put a character limit on anything? Sometimes there's a lot to say, and by "a lot," I mean more than the paragraph that character limits allow. I'd rather send one message, instead of three, thank you very much.

#906 Pop-up ads

I must be having some crazy good luck with the computer lately, because I've been the millionth person to open a page so many times. I've won more iPods and money than I even know what to do with. And I wouldn't have ever known without the help of pop-ups. Sometimes I'm not the millionth person to open the page, and instead I get to play a fun little interactive game. When I win, I'm rewarded with a pop-up! Hurray!

I wonder if pop-up advertisement creators are slightly annoyed or actually impressed when pop-ups come up on their screen.

It's just slightly annoying.

#908 When people write with caps lock on

IT'S LIKE YOU'RE YELLING NON STOP. THERE'S NOT EVEN A NEED FOR EXCLAMATION POINTS...AMAZING!

ARE YOU ANGRY? ARE YOU EXCITED? ARE YOU NOT SMART ENOUGH TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S HAPPENING TO YOUR LETTERS? WHO KNOWS?

If you want someone's attention, don't do it with the caps lock key on.

IT'S JUST SLIGHTLY ANNOYING.

#915 Impossible CAPTCHA codes

It's already a pain to type in all of the information requested of us when filling out online forms. The last thing we need to deal with is this:

CAPTCHA creators are definitely laughing at how much they can get away with. But hey, what choice do we have? We want our forms sent through the world wide web. So, CAPTCHA creators, do your best, we'll get it one of these times.

It's just slightly annoying.

#971 Spam mail

It's exciting when you have an email in your inbox. There's so many possibilities in an email: free stuff, a catch-up letter from an old friend, important alerts, updates, tracking information on your new mail-order bride, someone reaching out to meet you...an email could be anything! As we all know though, that's quite the double edged sword.

Instead of all these awesome things, we've become more accustomed to spam mail. The most anticlimactic mail out there. It comes in all forms and with all crazy types of content. No, I'm not going to provide you with my credit card information so you can "deposit 1,000,000 dollars into my account." No, I don't care to increase my penis size (maybe store that one to read later). Just because I once bought a desk online doesn't mean I'm interested in hearing about great deals on a 12-pack of desks. No, I still don't want to increase my penis size (I wonder if girls get these. I wonder if anyone else gets these actually. This could be a bad sign). There's no need to go on and on with this, we all get these emails. Before you get too excited about seeing some mail in your inbox, pull back a little and brace yourself for a slight dissapointment.

It's just slightly annoying.

#981 Facebook profile pictures that aren't a picture of the person

We get it, you love that athlete, you think that picture is hilarious, that picture of your buddy is really embarrassing, you're promoting something, etc.

It's definitely respectable to be so passionate about something or someone that you want to show it off and it's definitely acceptable to get that picture of your buddy and show it to the world. But it's just slightly annoying when the rest of the world is looking through their facebook, and they see an unfamiliar face in their news feed or a name that doesn't match a picture. Glancing through your facebook friends, you may not have realized that you were friends with Michael Jordan, a philanthropy, an animal, a "break in case of emergency" sticker (lolz, that hilarious inside joke with one of your 600 facebook friends) and a few inanimate objects. It's crazy who gets on facebook nowadays.

It's just slightly annoying.

#984 The Internet's "Work Offline" option

Maybe I just don't understand it (I definitely don't understand it), but this option seems pointless and extremely oxymoronic. After taking a second to recognize the greatness of the word 'oxymoronic,' ponder yourself this. Why would you ever open up the internet to go online and click the "work offline" button?

Okay, okay. After doing extensive research online (not offline, thank you very much), it turns out there's a small practicality of this mode. So small that I dare not delve into the details.

To make matters just slightly annoying, sometimes the internet will randomly go onto this mode, all on its own. The computer knows what slightly annoys you. It must enjoy forcing you to go up to the 'file' tab and uncheck the highlighted option.  I guess it's the computer's payback for all of those hours you wasted its time watching porn youtube videos.

It's just slightly annoying.

#985 Typing out the site name, "1000slightlyannoyingthings.blogspot.com"

Might as well address the elephant in the room. Typing in the full name of this website (http://www.1000slightlyannoyingthings.blogspot.com) kind of sucks; it's long and a bit cumbersome.  Ideas and solutions are circulating, that I promise. Until then, keep on going through the hassle of typing in this site's name and going through 1000 Slightly Annoying Thing's facebook and twitter, it's beyond appreciated!

#989 Figuring out how to take a screen shot

There's a reason that everyone's screenshot happens to also have an internet tab inconspicuously open that says "how to take a screenshot." It's a really useful idea, so why make it so complicated to figure out? Command+Shift+4? Really? Come on. Did the shortcut maker at Apple headquarters come to work drunk one day, flail around on some keys and call it a shortcut? I don't even want to know what the "shortcut" for a screenshot is on a PC.

It's just slightly annoying.

#990 The seconds between connecting to the internet and it actually working

We're all familiar with this, but you may not realize that this actually does slightly annoy you. You turn on your Mac's airport or turn on your inferior PC's internet port. You immediately go to any website (facebook) to see if it's working and this, or something similar to this, is the all-too-familiar screen that appears.

Ugh. No need to panic, not that you ever do; you've been here a million times. You're just not connected to the internet yet. You know the drill. Refresh. Nothing. Refresh. Nothing. Refresh, refresh, refresh, nothing. Refresh, nothing. Refresh, bingo, connected. Some of you will go with the bookmark strategy, where you just click different easily accessible bookmarks until one works, signifying a succesful connection to the internet. Others will go with the repetition strategy, which consists of leaving your cursor in the url bar up top, and going through the click-enter repetition. All are different, acceptable strategies of refreshing the internet for the seconds between connecting to the internet and it actually working.

It's amazing how many times you can refresh a page in less than 10 seconds. But you know what? Those 10 seconds are 10 seconds of your life that you'll never get back. Come on internet gods, you're better than that.

It's just slightly annoying.
