#839 Seeing the bus pull away as you approach the bus stop

Let loose that sigh of dissapointment and grab a seat, you'll be waiting a while.

It's just slightly annoying.

#842 Getting out of the parking lot after a concert or sporting event

You know you can walk faster than you'll be moving in your car. In fact, hey, there's someone walking faster than your car right now. The pros will park near exits of parking lots, but sometimes it's just not an option. It happens. And when it does...

It's just slightly annoying.

#861 Tolls

Sure, I'd love to have absolutely no say in giving up money to drive on a road. And I'd definitely love to get caught in traffic that tolls create. Great, grand, wonderful, thanks.

It's just slightly annoying.

#865 When a car is driving too slow on the highway and you have to turn off cruise control

It's hard to get into a good consistent rhythm on the highway. When you finally get that open strip of highway in front of you, it's pretty exciting. Get that speed up to just the right place, hit the cruise control button and enjoy the ride.

As you cruise along, eventually you'll notice a speck on the edge of the horizon that's getting bigger and bigger. Yeah, you know what's about to happen. It might be a patch of traffic or it might just be one car. Whatever it is, it's definitely going slower than the speed that you're cruising at. Tap that break, turn off the cruise control, say goodbye to smooth sailing and hello to this slight annoyance.

It's just slightly annoying.

#878 When two trucks drive next to each other on the highway

That's fine truckers, nobody else wanted to progress on this highway. Everyone will just wait behind you, going at a less than satisfactory speed, driving in fear as the load that you're carrying swings back and forth on the road.

Truckers actually do have a really hard job, so maybe we should have some sort of leniency. If you're a trucker and you're driving next to another truck on a two-lane highway, I'm going to be slightly annoyed at you, but maybe I'll try to hold back my expletives.

It's just slightly annoying.

#882 When the GPS unit doesn't realize that a street is a one way street

Sure, GPS, I'll just turn down this one way street, dodge the oncoming traffic that's angrily honking and cussing at me. I guess, if we do actually turn into oncoming traffic, it's our own fault for mindlessly following the direction of a little box mounted on our windshield. But come on little box, be smarter!

It's just slightly annoying.

#893 Filling your tank and finding out that gas is cheaper down the road

Gas stations shouldn't be as close as they usually are in the first place and they especially shouldn't be very different prices. Whenever gas stations are different prices, the price differentiation never seems to work out in your favor. You'll have already filled up when you pass that gas station that costs 10 cents less per gallon.

Oh, what's that you see at the gas station you didn't go to? Free hot dog, balloon animal and ice cream cone with every tank of gas you buy there? Chances are that something along the lines of this will occur in your life, you might as well be prepared for that slap in the face.

It's just slightly annoying.

#901 When your car frosts over on the outside and inside

How is this fair? You can't fix this immediately; you can't have the defogger and the heat on at the same time. The frost doesn't even need an open window to crawl through, it just magically gets in your car and makes an ice sculpture out of everything.

It's just slightly annoying.

#903 When you try to pull into a parking spot and there's a shopping cart in the middle of the spot

What a let down this feeling is, especially in a crowded parking lot. You finally see the golden spot, and a shopping cart is sitting right there in the middle of it, trying to act innocent.

If you're lucky, you'll have a selfless passenger who will get out of the car to solve this problem. Let's be real though, if you do have a passenger, they're probably not going to want to get out of the car to move that cart. You'll circle the lot six times before you decide to move that cart. When you finally do decide that you'll man up to go move it to park, the wind will have blown it out of the way and another car will have parked there. Regardless of what happens, two things are probably true: you're not getting the spot and that cart will not be moved until a worker comes and moves it several hours later.

It's just slightly annoying.

#905 Pennies not working in a parking meter

Everyone keeps change in their car. It's the smart thing to do. You never know when you'll have to unreasonably pay to park your car on the side of the street. Parking meters are an annoying idea/invention (but we'll save that for another post), and it's slightly annoying that they don't accept pennies.

Sure, pennies are already kind of useless...but they should be able to buy you at least one minute. How many times could you have used those three or four extra minutes in the meter? The coin collection spot in the car is always comprised of mostly pennies. You have to dig through a sea of copper before you can find any useful silver. You'd probably be able to pay for at least 2 hours worth of parking if each penny bought you one minute. Of course, you can't use those pennies. Instead, the pennies will just pile up, uselessly, taking up space in your change collection, dirtying your fingers every time you need to dig through them to find something to feed the meter.

Come on Mr. Meter. You'll eat my nickels and dimes and quarters and feel full, but you'll eat my pennies and not feel anything at all?

It's just slightly annoying.

#907 Out-of-state drivers

I'm gonna have to write you
up for driving like an idiot
in my state.
No matter what state you hail from, no matter how fast you drive, no matter how well you drive, no matter what your destination is, no matter what, one thing will always remain true: out-of-state drivers are worse drivers than you.

When determining whose fault a mishap on the road is, it is and always will be their fault. If you're in your home state, don't worry, traffic rules apply a little bit less to you.

They're just slightly annoying.

#911 Refolding a map

This is a slight annoyance that no mere mortal can avoid. If you've ever opened a map, you have undoubtedly struggled to refold it. It won't fold at the creases, you'll forget which pages go on top of what, and you will inevitably find yourself stumped by what appears to be the simplest of tasks.

You may think that you've won the battle when you get to crinkle the map up and stuff it back into your glove compartment, but let's face it, the map has won, and always will win, the war.

It's just slightly annoying.

#916 When you open your car door and snow falls onto your seat

In the end, this man's hard work will
probably be rewarded with a snowy seat.
This is a pretty immediate slight annoyance when it's snowy outside. You open you car door and bam. It's too late. It's over. There's a nice pile of snow right where you want to sit and there's nothing you can do about it. Brushing it away is the obvious go-to move, but it doesn't matter; your seat is already wet and cold. Listen up Mother Nature, if we wanted a wet, cold, uncomfortable seat, we would have sat down on a cold toilet seat or worn khaki shorts on the log flume.

It's just slightly annoying.

#954 When people forget their turn signal is on

Don't you people hear that ticking noise? Don't you see the blinking signal?

To those people in the left lane with their left turn signal on, or in the right lane with their right turn signal on. Oh, really? You're turning left now, off the road, into the median? Go for it.

It's just slightly annoying.

#961 Hitting a red light when you're already late

A red light, clearly mocking our time management skills.
Red lights suck to begin with, but that's a whole new can of worms that will be opened soon.

Hitting a red light when you're already running behind? Now that's just adding insult to injury.

It's just slightly annoying.

#974 Cars that take up two parking spots

Nah, it's fine, don't worry about it, no body wanted to park in that other spot anyway. I'll just take a few laps around the lot and have to settle with the most undesirable spot in the parking lot. Yeah, you know the one, the spot next to the shopping carts...ugh.

Is calling out New Jersey drivers played out yet?

It's just slightly annoying.

#987 Not being able to turn on red

There's a real lack of trust going on in this world. We are obviously not trusted on the roads nowadays.

They don't just give out licenses you know. You have to earn that thing. You have to prove you know the traffic laws. So where do these signs get off telling us that we can't turn on red? You listen here "no turn on red" sign, I know to look both ways (once again, this won't apply to you New Jersey drivers) before moving on a red light, not because I know the traffic laws, but because basic survival skills tell me to do so. These inherent, basic survival skills have taught us that we probably shouldn't move our car in front of a moving car. These very same basic survival skills also taught us how to hunt, kill and unscrew signs too. We're coming after you NTOR signs (see what I did there?) and there shall be no mercy for the annoyance you've caused us over the course of history.

A stop sign this time, a No Turn on Red sign next time!

 It's just slighty annoying.

#991 Slow drivers in the left lane

If you're guilty of this, it's okay, it's not your fault that you're from New Jersey (and thus a terrible driver) or 70+ years of age. For the rest of us traffic-rule-savy drivers, we're just slightly annoyed at your driving antics. Those "slower traffic keep right" signs are there for a reason.

The only reason that this isn't on the "1000 unbelievably annoying things" list is because you can pass these ignorant fools on the right. It goes almost without saying what you do when you finally manage to pass these drivers on the right, but for the sake of the list, it should be said. As you pass these stubborn drivers who wouldn't move to the right lane under any circumstance (i.e. backing traffic up half a mile or dealing with someone riding on their bumper), you and your car full of people give them the "are you kidding me right now?" stare.

Standard protocol for this stare should be followed: make sure everyone in the car is staring (including the driver), make sure it's not a casual stare (they need to know they did something wrong, so staring into their soul would suffice), and make sure you continue the stare in your mirror (for a few moments) after you get in front of them in the left lane. This should satisfy your confidence and ego without causing any real damage to anyone. Use your own judgment when deciding if you want to throw any expletives or gestures in their direction, but keep in mind, as said before, they may be from New Jersey or may be too old to be on the road.

It's just slightly annoying.

#999 School Zones

Don't get me wrong here, I respect and appreciate the concept of a school zone. I really do. What I don't appreciate is your fourth grader walking faster than my car. Maybe I'll be less than slightly annoyed when I have a child, but until then, I will always be a little bit agitated that I need to tack on an extra four minutes to my trip to drive through a half-mile 15 mph school zone.

It's just slightly annoying.
